Medical Care

Sharon Cancer Center & General Hospital:

On February 25, 1994, the India Gospel League formalized an integral part of its medical missions by registering the Sharon Medical and Charitable Trust under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882. This trust aims to provide quality medical care through the Sharon Cancer Center and General Hospital (SCC & GH) and Sharon Diagnostic Center. As one of only 10 cancer centers in the country, the Sharon Cancer Center (SCC) offers comprehensive cancer treatment for those in and around Salem who are living below the poverty line.

Training & Education

Health Education: The need for trained health care workers is enormous. Recognizing this need, the Sharon Cancer Center initiated the Sharon School of Nursing in 1997. This nursing school not only helps train nurses and volunteers for the Sharon facilities but also for other hospitals. The two-year diploma program provides unique opportunities, especially in oncology, hospice care, and community health.
Non formal training is given to village level health workers so that they can take health awareness to the villages.

Community Health

Non formal training is given to village level health workers so that they can take health awareness to the villages.

Rural Clinics: These camps are conducted in very remote villages where there are no medical facilities. This is done through a mobile medical clinic. A mobile medical clinic is equipped with a mini operation theater, laboratory, and emergency care equipment. These camps are operated by a full-time medical officer and a staff nurse, or by an international medical team.

Health Awareness: Villages are made aware of health issues such as health care, nutrition, early diagnosis, and proper treatment. The preventive aspect of health care is emphasized.
